Welcome to the August-September issue of Go4BioDiv Newsletter.

In this issue, we are pleased to share the Go4BioDiv programme during the “Nature Camp” in Sundarbans World Heritage site. The programme in Sundarbans has many important preparatory workshops and exploratory excursions in India’s only marine World Heritage Site. The programme will also provide time and space for the Messengers to delve into different activities to explore their creative talent and express their connection with coastal and marine biodiversity. We have interesting articles in this issue highlighting the purpose of Go4BioDiv with a very special welcome message to the Messengers, and also a very beautiful expression of the basic elements of nature by one of our Messengers.

The virtual camp of Go4BioDiv is growing day by day on Facebook, wherein the discussions
are getting very interesting. We urge the readers to share their views and opinions on the contents of this newsletter on our Facebook group, and experience a rich discussion with a diverse audience.

We have gladly received the valuable contributions and very positive feedback on the previous issues of the newsletter, and we hope to get back to you again with our next issue that will coincide with the onset of our Sundarbans programme.

Go4BioDiv included in CBD notification

In its latest notification on the ‘Engagement of Stakeholders and Major Groups’, the Secretariat has reiterated its support for Go4BioDiv and other youth initiatives.

The notification says:

“15. Among international initiatives held with the support of Parties to the Convention, the youth initiative Go4BioDiv, supported by the Government of Germany and IUCN, supported the involvement of youth in the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties and, with the additional support of UNESCO and the Government of India, has prepared a similar initiative to coincide with the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties. The Secretariat has provided advice and support to a network of youth, many of whom were active during the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, in the conceptualization and launch of an initiative for a Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN). Development of the Network has been prepared by an interim steering committee, comprising young people from thirteen countries.”
