Educational Background: After finishing my a-levels I worked for 10 months in teh US. I represented germany in the epcot-Park of the Walt Disney World. Now I'm studying international business in the 4th semester at a university of cooperative education, which means, that I am a student and a trainee in a company, which is gtz for my part, at the same time.
Where I live and how I view my environment: I'm living in Mannheim, a city between the Odenwald and the Pfälzer Wald, two very beautiful regions, which are known for their production of wine. Nearby my home is a large protected area of water-meadow, which I especially appreciate for the long walks me and my dogs are undertaking there. I'm always surprised when I'm meeting some deer or wild boar there, since it is not really far from industrial and residential areas. this shows me, that living door to door with wildlife is possible, if some simple rules of protection are obeyed.
Biodiversity means to me personally: On a day in spring:
While eating 10 different sorts of aspargus, with 3 different friends with 3 different hair colours, I'm hearing 7 different species of birds singing, 4 different kinds of bees are drinking my lemonade while 2 different kinds of butterflies are flying around the 5 different sorts of flowers on the meadow nearby...
My Symbol of biodiversity: The lynx, which came back to live in the Odenwald after a long time of abscence. A really happy occurence!
My motivation for participating: Decision makers should listen to the generation of tomorrow when coming to decisions concerning the world of tomorrow! I'm ready to be heard ;-)
I'm also looking forward to learn a lot about biodiversity around the world and I'm really excited to be that close to such a big international conference.
How did I show I am ready to "Go 4 BioDiv": With a primary school class in Frankfurt I worked one week on the subject of biodiversity. I'm going to be in Madagaskar this summer, so my big involvement in conserving biodiversity is still upcoming...
My message to other participants: Let's Go 4 BioDiv together! I'm glad to have the opportunity to meet all of you soon.
