Educational Background: Graduated from Forestry University of Vietnam.
Where I live and how I view my environment: I live in and work for Tam Dao National Park of Vietnam which owns a high biodiversity with more than 1400 plants and over 1000 animals. It\\\\\\\'s now well-protected. It\\\\\\\'s also a good environment for me to apply knowledge I learnt from University.
Biodiversity means to me personally: Biodiversity is the variation of life forms within a given ecosystem. An ecosystem with a biodiversity of life forms should reside a diversity of species of plants and animals. Biodiversity plays a very important role to adjust the ecological balance which helps to maintain a healthy environment for human beings.
My Symbol of biodiversity: Natural forest with a biodiversity of plants and animals.
My motivation for participating: I expect to get opportunities to learn more about biodiversity and exchange ideas and experience in biodiversity conservation.
Moreover, I will be very happy to enjoy time together with youth from many other countries in the world. From the idea of mix people from different countries to work in groups, I can gain much knowledge about their biodiversity situation and how biodiversity loss affects their life. We also get together to share life and culture with many different concept and customs.
How did I show I am ready to "Go 4 BioDiv": During working for Tam Dao National Park (TDNP) as a forest ranger, I had chances to get involved in many commitments in the field of biodiversity. To serve the conservation management component, one of three main components of the project life, we conducted a commitment of wild animal conservation which was applied in Tam Dao town addressing people are not allowed to do trading on wild animals and make food from forest animals. Together with other rangers of Tam Dao National Park, I got involved in supervising the commitment performance for better forest controlling and management.
Moreover, with the support from Tam Dao National Park and Buffer Zone Management Project (TDMP) funded by GTZ, TDNP had organized some events related to biodiversity. Firstly, I took part in the International Biodiversity Day organized on May 22, 2007 at TDNP. On this day, we involved the youth from many parts of North Vietnam to join planting, doing sanitation, listening to environmental interpretation, and playing games of environment and biodiversity conservation to remind them of biodiversity and necessity of biodiversity conservation to their life and the world sustainability. This is my first involvement in such a big and international event organized in TDNP. Besides, we also organized an Action Day for Environment of Tam Dao, commonly called a “small B-Day” on November 11, 2007 to promote the nature protection and biodiversity conservation in Tam Dao National Park. In addition, I usually take part in environmental education and interpretation activities and training courses frequently organized during the Park operation.
My message to other participants: Coming to the summit, I would like to address that the global environment and biodiversity are seriously endangered due to forest destruction and illegal hunting and trading of wild animals. Therefore, political leaders and law makers should take more considerations in passing strict law of forest protection to prevent illegal activities as well as making policies to promote forest plantation and protection.
