Where I live and how I view my environment: I live in a small town called Novo Airão in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. I have the privilege of living in one of the largest fresh water archipelagoes in the world - the Anavilhanas Archipelago - not only a beautiful ecological area but also a very important area as it preserves a great number of animal and plant species.
Biodiversity means to me personally: To me, personally, biodiversity means life for myself and for the next generations.
My Symbol of biodiversity: A manatee, because it is the symbol of Novo Airão and because it is a beautiful, docile mammal, unfortunately in the list of animals likely to become extinct.
My motivation for participating: I am very happy to be participating in this Youth Summit because I will be exchanging experiences with other people from different countries and discussing about the problems and solutions for the problems of our planet in order to turn it into a harmonious place.
How did I show I am ready to "Go 4 BioDiv": I am committed and involved in conserving biodiversity because the work we develop here is aimed at the protection of biodiversity. Besides that, I have attended several meetings regarding this subject and in 2006 I also participated in the COP 8 - MOP 3 in Curitiba.
My message to other participants: My personal message to the other participants is that we should all fight for the balance in biodiversity, after all, this balance will represent our own survival.
