Mundus maris – Sciences and Arts for Sustainability is a non-profit association working with young people to protect the biodiversity and health of the seas. We are very happy to see one of our volunteers, Ananya Ashok from Tamil Nadu, selected as a messenger to the Youth Forum of CBD COP 11 in Hyderabad. We fully support her plea to restore the Pallikaranai marsh, stop using it as a garbage dump and turn it into a wildlife sanctuary and valuable recreational area for the city of Chennai.
We also support all action stopping destructive fishing methods, such as widespread catching of baby fish, pollution and mismanagement of plastic litter that threatens marine biodiversity and CO2 emissions which lead our climate into dangerous levels of change and acidifies the oceans.
