• My Personal relation to the World Heritage Site:
  The Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu represents an Andean sacred site, and it´s also an icon of Peruvian identity, which recalls a great past. But what strengthens a greater identity is that it belongs to local cultures. Mine is located in Andahuaylillas, which now is Cultural Heritage of my country. Here I strengthened feelings of identity and esteem, because this land gave me several reasons to be proud of it, like living in a place with low pollution, being sheltered by Apus (sacred mountains) and spirits of the mountains, who watch over my village and its welfare. Between these Apus, the most important is the Apu Qori Orqo (Golden Mountain in Quechua), who makes us feel protected with his great appearance. Other reason as well is the church of my village, which is now a very important place for the touristic circuit for its cultural value and unique beauty, reasons that have made it deserve the title of “The Sistine Chapel of America”. It´s located in a typical colonial main square decorated with a fountain at its center, surrounded by pisonays (great centennial trees) and antique houses, showing culture in every step you take. Besides all these elements, we have an abstract culture, traditional knowledge of its inhabitants that associate working values, like the ayni and minka, with respectful practices with the environment, like muyus and laymes (agricultural areas in rotation and rest), and also with natural fertilizers that enrich Pacha Mama (Mother Earth), who rewards us with the sacred grain of corn and other crops. These practices are mainly done in the rural communities of the district. All these reasons and many more made me decide to keep living in this place, contributing with my studies for the sustainable development of my village and a better lifestyle. // El Santuario Histórico de Machu Picchu representa un espacio andino sagrado e icono de la peruanidad, que rememora un pasado histórico y grandioso, pero lo que fortalece una identidad mayor es la pertenencia a culturas locales. La mía se contiene en Andahuaylillas ahora patrimonio cultural de la nación, en donde a través del tiempo fui fortaleciendo sentimientos de identidad y aprecio, ya que esta tierra me brindo muchas razones por las cuales sentirme orgullosa, como estar ubicada en un ambiente poco contaminado de desechos y bullicio, estar resguardada por Apus, espíritus de la montaña, que velan por el bienestar del pueblo, entre estos el mas importante es el Apu Qori Orqo (Cerro de oro) que con su grandiosa presencia nos hace sentir protegidos, así mismo el templo que ya constituye un lugar muy importante dentro del circuito turístico, por su valor cultural y belleza única, los cuales le han hecho merecedor del titulo de “Capilla Sixtina de América”, que se enmarca en una típica plaza colonial que adorna el paisaje con su pileta céntrica, sus pisonaes, arboles grandes y centenarios y las casonas históricas que muestran cultura a cada paso. Todo esto sumado a la cultura inmaterial, conocimientos tradicionales de sus pobladores que vinculan valores de trabajo solidario como el ayni y la minka y practicas respetuosas con el medio ambiente, como los muyus o laymes (tierras agrícolas en rotación y descanso) y el uso de los abonos naturales que enriquecen a la Pacha Mama que nos retribuye con el grano sagrado del maíz y el fruto de otros cultivos, estas prácticas realizadas principalmente en las comunidades campesinas del distrito. Todas estas razones y más hacen que haya decidido seguir viviendo en esta tierra, aportando al desarrollo sostenible del pueblo con mis estudios y ganas de contribuir a una vida mejor.
• Important to safeguard my natural World Heritage Site:
  I reject the classification of cultural and natural heritages as ruins, like if they were physical wastes of the past. Heritages of different cultures are symbols that express values and identity, support for self esteem, with which present is enriched and a better future is carved out. Like the Andean cosmogony proposes, goods and costumes, spiritual links of sacredness, reciprocity, self esteem, should be strengthened in territories around the Site, to make cosmic harmony flow and achieve a better life. Heritage is protected and enhanced when these values and identities are strengthened. This is the only way to make cultures acknowledge their heritages as their own, appropriating their meanings to consolidate new creative practices of mutual respect for human development, incorporating them to public governance and national education. // Rechazo se califiquen a los patrimonios culturales y/o naturales como “ruinas” como si se tratase de desechos físicos del pasado. Los patrimonios de los diversos pueblos, son emblemas que expresan valores e identidad, sustento de la autoestima, con los cuales se enriquece el presente y se labra un futuro mejor. Como lo aporta la perspectiva andina, en los espacios territoriales, bienes y costumbres, vínculos espirituales de sacralidad, reciprocidad, autoestima, que son los que deben ser afirmados para que fluya la armonía del cosmos y se logre una vida digna. Se resguarda, protege y pone en valor el patrimonio, cuando estos valores e identidades son afirmados. Es la única vía para que los pueblos los reconozcan como suyos, apropiándose de sus significados y de esta forma se afiancen nuevas prácticas creativas y de respeto mutuo para el desarrollo humano, incorporándolos en la gestión pública y la educación nacional.
• Specific problems and threats of my WHS:
  These problems affect Machupicchu as well as Andahuaylillas: It is intended to affect the authenticity of the heritage to include it as a meaningless entertainment, which affects its cultural significance, smashing the civilizations and cultures that support it. It is intended to occupy and overuse the heritage, cultural and natural goods for tourism, breaking harmonious links with nature and deforming its cultural values, which would affect integral value enhancement actions. There´s an intention to reduce the management of heritage to eliminate the distribution of incomes to other fields, activities and uses, private or public, which affects the necessary resources for its conservation and enhancement actions. There´s a poor urban distribution in heritage areas, that atomizes, pollutes and gives other uses to agricultural areas, which attempts against nature. Huge constructions are built with inappropiate materials, disturbing landscape harmony. There aren´t places for storing historic cultural writings, where locals and visitors could access to information of the site. Local inhabitants should elaborate these materials themselves, to use them for didactic purposes in schools from surroundings mainly. By doing this, we would preserve the town memory materialized in an archive. // Estos problemas afectan a Machu Picchu y algunos de ellos también a Andahuaylillas: Se pretende afectar la autenticidad del patrimonio para incluirlo como un bien de entretenimiento vacio, que afecta su significado cultural, aplastando las civilizaciones y culturas que lo sustentan. Se pretende ocupar y sobre usar para el turismo los bienes patrimoniales culturales y naturales, rompiendo sus vínculos de armonía con la naturaleza y deformando sus valores culturales, lo que afectaría la puesta en valor integral. Se trata y se busca reducir la gestión del patrimonio para que no exista reparto de ingresos hacia otros ámbitos, actividades y usos, sean privados o públicos, lo que afecta los recursos necesarios paras su conservación y puesta en valor. Existe mala distribución urbana en las zonas patrimonio, atomizando, contaminando y dando otros usos a las tierras agrícolas, atentando así contra la naturaleza. Se vienen edificando grandes construcciones con materiales poco recomendables, que perturban la armonía del paisaje. No se tienen lugares que guarden registros escritos histórico culturales, donde el poblador y el visitante puedan acceder a la información del lugar y que sean los mismos pobladores los que elaboren estos documentos, para que sirvan como material didáctico en las instituciones educativas principalmente colegios de la zona, de esta forma estaríamos manteniendo la memoria del pueblo materializada en un archivo.
• Motivation for participating in the International Youth Forum 2010:
  Participating in the Forum about natural and cultural heritages in Japan represents to me a desire to learn and share, where a space is offered to me to socialize my experiences and knowledge, and at the same time, where I can feed them with the experiences of other young people, whom like me, belong to groups committed to protection, conservation and perpetuation of material and abstract heritage of their cultures. This Forum will strengthen my personal capacities and professionally, it will serve me as a tool to promote activities in a collective way which will make possible the sustainable development of Andahuaylillas, positioning it as an example for the region and the country. What motivates my assistance to this Forum is the diversity of realities and cultures that I´m going to be able to appreciate, because it will congregate young people from different countries, each one with its own special view to deal, analyze and discuss these subjects. Other important aspect will be the presence of authorities of each country, whom will legitimize the group´s agreements, a very unusual characteristic in events of this magnitude, where it´s more common to see only authorities discussing these subjects of national interest. This Forum will help to evaluate if measures taken by nations have been efficient or otherwise, to search other alternatives that have been successful in places with the same goals. Another important attitude is to offer some kind of multiplying effect inside our families, groups or friends, because if we do so, more people that worry about these subjects and understand their importance will be able to access these knowledge, making possible to strengthen our identity and feel part or our culture. It will be an honor for me to be the bearer of the feelings and ideas that the diverse soul of my country cherishes. // Participar en la Cumbre sobre Patrimonio Natural y Cultural en Japón, representa para mi, un anhelo de aprendizaje y compartir, donde se me ofrece un espacio para socializar mis experiencias y conocimientos, al mismo tiempo de poder alimentarlos con experiencias de otros jóvenes, que al igual que yo pertenecen a agrupaciones que realizan acciones para la protección, conservación y perpetuación del patrimonio material e inmaterial de sus pueblos. Esta cumbre fortalecerá mis capacidades personal y profesionalmente, sirviéndome de herramienta para que a nivel colectivo podamos promover actividades que posibiliten el desarrollo sostenible de Andahuaylillas, presentándose así como ejemplo para la región y el país. Lo que motiva también mi asistencia a esta cumbre es la diversidad de realidades y culturas que voy a poder apreciar, ya que congregará a jóvenes de diversos países, cada uno con una mirada especial para abordar, analizar y discutir estos temas. Un aspecto importante representará la presencia de las autoridades de cada país que legitimarán los acuerdos tomados en conjunto, suceso poco usual en eventos de esta magnitud, donde tradicionalmente son solo estos los que discuten sobre temas de interés nacional. Este acontecimiento ayudara a evaluar si las medidas tomadas por las naciones están siendo eficaces o de lo contrario buscar otras alternativas que hayan sido exitosas en lugares que también persiguen este fin. Otra actitud importante es ofrecer una especie de efecto multiplicador dentro de nuestras familias, agrupaciones o amigos, ya que al compartir lo aprendido serán más personas que se preocupen por estos temas y comprendan su importancia y así poder fortalecer nuestra identidad y sentirnos parte de nuestra cultura. Resultaría para mí un honor ser la portadora del los sentimientos e ideas que alberga el alma diversa de mi país.
• Message to the world concerning WHS and biodiversity:
  Cultural and natural heritage is a tangible and intangible good of authenticity for humanity, for its people and nations, of his history and links with cosmos. The different cultures of humanity make the planet habitable, establishing links with nature, giving form to territories and strengthening their social and spiritual bonds of immaterial nature. By replying the example of our ancient cultures that developed respectful practices with the environment, we should be able to keep cultivating the biodiversity of our regions. The cultural diversity is expressed in this multiplicity of heritages in every continent. Defending these heritages strengthens social self esteem and cultural identity for the achievement of a better life. There are heritages that are declared of global interest because of their singularity. Others are confirmed as typical from nations, regions and villages. All of them express in their authenticity that when heritage is well declared, humanity blossoms in its diversity. // El patrimonio cultural y natural es un bien tangible e intangible, de autenticidad de la humanidad, de sus pueblos y naciones, en su historia y vínculos con el cosmos. Los diversos pueblos de la humanidad hacemos habitable el planeta, estableciendo vínculos con la naturaleza, dando forma a los territorios y afianzando los lazos sociales y espirituales de carácter inmaterial. Siguiendo el ejemplo de nuestras culturas que desarrollaron prácticas respetuosas con el medio ambiente, podemos continuar cultivando la biodiversidad de nuestras regiones. La diversidad cultural se expresa en esta multiplicidad de patrimonios en todos los continentes. La defensa de este patrimonio afianza la autoestima social e identidad cultural, para el desarrollo de una vida mejor. Existen patrimonios que asumiéndose en su singularidad son declarados de toda la humanidad, otros se ratifican característicos de naciones, regiones y pueblos. Todos expresan en su autenticidad que con la afirmación del patrimonio la humanidad florece en su diversidad.
