- My Personal relation to the World Heritage Site:
I was born and grew up in the county which is quite close to WHS. So there were many chances for me to go there, breathe the fresh air; enjoy the amazing scenery and come into close contact with all kinds of plants and animals. Every time I went there, a kind of peacefulness and relaxation sprung up in my mind. Therefore, I was deeply impressed by its
strong fascination. What makes Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area famous is exceptional topographic features of grotesque peaks, rich resources of protophyte, endangered flora species, rare wild animals. Thus, as a native from WHS, I am willing to do everything in my power to protect it.
- Important to safeguard my natural World Heritage Site:
Every natural World Heritage Site can be regarded as the symbol of natural scenic spot in different places. With the rapid development of modern economy, more and more natural environment has been damaged by human activities. Many kinds of plants and animals have died out at an amazing speed while the natural World Heritage Site can be built to provide them with a safe home to live. So it is obvious that safeguarding our natural World Heritage Site plays a more important role in modern society.
- Specific problems and threats of my WHS:
From my perspective, the problems and threats can be treated from 2 aspects. Tourism has maintained a sustained and rapid development at the site. The environmental protection for the WHS I represent has met certain pressure by reason of tourists’ rolling into the area. Especially the quality of the water at the WHS has faced a threat. On the other hand, the ecosystem has been struck by some natural disasters these years such as deep-freeze in
2007, the drought and flood in 2010. So it is essential for the people to strenthen their consciousness in order to protect the biodiversity.
- Motivation for participating in the International Youth Forum 2010:
As a representative, participating in the International Youth Forum 2010 is a precious chance for me to broaden my horizons. I can get involved in the knowledge of biodiversity and exchange information about protecting WHS. As I expect, more people can be encouraged to participate in the environmental protection through the knowledge presented in the forum. As a teacher, the opportunity that I can use my own experience to give students a lively class about biodiversity and environmental protection seems to be more valuable.
- Message to the world concerning WHS and biodiversity:
The WHSs we represent are becoming more and more worrying because of environmental problems. So everyone of us wants to come up with some measures to deal with it. The International Youth Forum 2010 provides us with this big opportunity to make us get together and have a discussion just right. And it is the first step we make. There will be a long process waiting for us. We should not hesitate to do it right now.
